PromptVault is a Chrome browser extension that helps you save, organize, and quickly insert AI prompts. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your prompts, folders, tags, or any content you create
• We do not track your browsing history or activity on any website
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts
• We do not transmit any data to external servers
• We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way

3. Data Storage

All data created within PromptVault — including your prompts, folders, tags, and settings — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using the chrome.storage.local API. This means:

• Your data never leaves your device
• Your data is tied to your Chrome profile
• Uninstalling the extension will remove all stored data
• You can export/backup your data at any time from the Settings page

4. Permissions Explained

PromptVault requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific purpose:

• storage — To save your prompts and settings locally
• activeTab — To insert prompts into the current page's text input when you request it
• sidePanel — To display the prompt management panel
• contextMenus — To provide right-click "Save as Prompt" functionality

5. Content Script Access

PromptVault injects a content script into supported AI chat platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Grok, Poe) solely to:

• Enable the /pv slash command for quick prompt search
• Insert selected prompts into the chat input field
• Show the floating action button for quick access

The content script does not read, collect, or transmit any content from these websites.

6. Third-Party Services

The free version of PromptVault does not connect to any third-party services. All functionality is self-contained within your browser.

7. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, it benefits from your operating system's security measures and Chrome's built-in extension sandboxing. We recommend keeping your browser and operating system updated.

8. Children's Privacy

PromptVault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
